Our Story

Who We Are

A Leadership Platform for Ambitious Women

Miss Uganda is a leadership programme built around a national pageant. Contestants are coached through the whole season — speaking on a stage and to a camera, running a project, handling money and pressure — so the woman who leaves with the crown leaves ready to use it.

The door is open to Ugandan women from every region, background and faith. What we look for is someone who can carry a message for a full year: on stage, in the press, and in the communities she works with long after the lights go down.

Beauty with a Purpose

A National Tradition Since 1967

  1. 1967

    The first crown

Rosemary Salmon is crowned the very first Miss Uganda, and flies to London to represent the nation at Miss World.

  2. Since

    A national tradition

What began as a single social event grows into a national tradition, with queens carrying Uganda onto the Miss World stage.

  3. Beyond

    Beauty with a purpose

Our queens lead charity projects and build remarkable careers, proof that the crown is the beginning, not the destination.

  4. Today

    A launchpad for change

The pageant is one night; the work is the year that follows. Each queen takes on a cause and carries it into schools, hospitals and communities across Uganda.

The queens who followed carried Uganda onto the Miss World stage, led charity work at home, and went on to careers in business, media and public life. That is the measure we hold the crown to: a year of work, not one night of applause.
